Initial Methamphetamine Testing
Initial methamphetamine testing (often referred to as composite screening) is undertaken to determine if methamphetamine is present in the property or not. It is a combination of multiple swab samples taken at the property and analysed together to give a single result. This single result is the maximum amount of methamphetamine present in the combined samples. Initial testing is the simplest and cheapest form of testing. Betta Property Consultants initial methamphetamine testing is NZS8510:2018 compliant and is undertaken by a trained testing agent.

- One single result, not room by room result
- Maximum amount of meth in the property, which often indicates more than actually present in the property (eg when more detailed testing is undertaken the meth is often spread throughout the house so not as high as the maximum result)
- Not recommended to be used to decide on decontamination methods
- If the level is over standard guidelines, further testing is required
Detailed Testing:
Detailed methamphetamine testing (often referred to as room by room testing) is undertaken once a positive initial methamphetamine test has been undertaken or when you are aware smoking or manufacture has occurred in the property. Detailed testing is when a sample is taken in each room (The size and surface type will determine the number of samples in each room) and will determine the exact amount of meth in each room. From detailed testing accurate decontamination advice can be determined.

Meth Testing Report

Betta reporting.
Your Betta Inspector will take swab samples from high-risk locations throughout the property using a methanol dampened gauze swab provided by an IANZ accredited laboratory. These are then couriered to an IANZ accredited laboratory operating to NZS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard for processing and testing for the presence of methamphetamine.
The lab will report their findings back to the inspector via a lab sheet. The Betta Inspector will then complete your report and release this to you, via a secure web link.
