Building Consultancy Services

Darryl provides a full range of home inspection reports for his clients. This includes pre-purchase building inspections, pre-sale building inspections, methamphetamine testing and asbestos sampling.

House inspection reports are produced electronically and accessed via an online link. Reports are provided and plain English and completed within hours of the inspection. A traffic light system and photos make it easy to understand what needs to be addressed.

Like all of Betta’s home and building inspectors Darryl comes to the role with a wealth of practical building experience. He is able to explain any aspect of his inspection and resulting report.

About Darryl

When it comes to the nuts and bolts of the NZ building industry few people have the wealth of knowledge Darryl Fawcet has. He’s built new homes, was a contract builder, construction supervisor, project manager and estimator. He also worked for the Master Builders Federation for 10 years as a regional service officer.

Background

Born and educated in the Hutt Valley, Darryl completed a carpentry apprenticeship and qualifications in the mid-80s. This led to a varied career within the construction industry in NZ and Australia. His experience included hands-on construction, business ownership, services to the industry, compliance, and management. Aside from a NZ Trade Certificate in Carpentry, Darryl is also a Licensed Building Practitioner, and a member of NZ Master Builders Association.

“Having been exposed to good training, a wide range of construction methodology, good trade practices and CPD, I have always strived for high standards of construction, finishing and detail,” Darryl explains. “This has provided me with the essential skills that go hand-in-hand with being able to inspect and assess a property. I can comprehensively and thoroughly inspect and report on newly-completed and existing houses and other buildings.”

Darryl enjoys the variety of jobs that now being a building inspections wellington expert. These include being out and about in different locations each day, seeing the variety of construction types, methods and techniques and meeting new people and networking. He also likes to keep abreast of all the latest building materials and regulations.

He’s says using the new digital technology involved – such as using tablets and providing online reports – is“easy as” but he finds that many people do not realize the detail involved in his inspections and how long they take.entails. These include being out and about in different locations each day, seeing the variety of construction types, methods and techniques and meeting new people and networking. He also likes to keep abreast of all the latest building materials and regulations.

Married with 5 children and 2 grandchildren, family and family time is also of huge importance. When spare time allows Darryl pursues a range of interests including motor-sport, golf, mountain biking and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
